Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading aerospace organisation to recruit a Quality Engineer for an initial 6 month duration (An extension is expected). There is a rate of £40 -  £46 Umbrella Per hour on offer for the successful candidate. My client is based in Cambridge and hybrid working would be available. There would however be a fairly frequent travel requirement with the need to travel to Holland 1-2 times a month and 1-2 visits to Canada within the initial 6 months.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to oversee my clients project quality activities. You will be required to support new product introductions to ensure the robustness of product builds. Work in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasise defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

-Review Customer Contract and Statement of Work to understand Quality and Project requirements.

-Represent the customer’s interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship, ensuring regular communication with the customer quality representative.

-Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and escalate to programme leadership.

-Oversee the process of product sign-off on completion of the delivery process to give the customer assurance their requirements have been met.

-Provide quality input and advice through the product lifecycle (attend appropriate milestone/gate reviews).

-Quality planning in Production and Supply Chain to drive a Right-First-Time culture (involved in BOM set up and Build Record Card approval).

-Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues.

-Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards.

-Liaison with Quality representatives at suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that all deliverables meet the approved specification.

-Review and acceptance of Supplier Quality Plans ensuring they meet contractual conditions as applicable.

-Support assessment of the capability and competence of potential suppliers for the customer needs.

Tasks:

-Compile and maintain the Product Quality Assurance Plan.

-Review any contract amendments for the impact on the Quality Assurance Plan.

-Support to Customer audits and product acceptance activities (FAT).

-Evaluation of product specific issues and product realisation processes investigation (8D process), ensuring prevention of recurrence.

-Provide feedback on quality performance and Quality KPIs at the appropriate forums.

-Work closely with key suppliers to ensure effective NC resolution and timely delivery.

-Participate in the development and refinement of Design and Process FMEA’s (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

-Train both Quality team and broader organisation members on quality matters.

Technical Competencies:

-Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).

-Excellent problem-solving skills with extensive experience in investigating QA issues and non-conformances.

-Lean Manufacturing knowledge.

-Understanding of ISO9001,  ISO14001 and Health and Safety practices.

-Experience in management and facilitation of Lessons Learned.

-Fully IT literate: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
