Principal Quality Engineer

Morson are working with the UK’s leading defence manufacturer who are looking for a Principal Quality Engineer to work out of the Barrow-in-Furness office.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.

Role Description

  • Embedding of Advanced Product Quality Planning processes (APQP) and tools & techniques within the supplier base
  • Providing training and coaching on APQP tools and techniques
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve programme goals
  • Planning, coordinating and monitoring quality-focused projects to ensure clear deliverables, resource allocation and timely completion
  • Implementation of APQP, PPAP and FAIR, preferably within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment
  • Quality and Compliance auditing where applicable
  • Presenting both within BAE and to external key stakeholders

Core Duties

  • Implementation of APQP, PPAP and FAIR, preferably within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment
  • Work as a fully contributory member of the Quality team and support the development of others within specialist area
  • Responsible for demonstrating SHE and responsible business behaviours
  • Undertake specialist non-routine and or complex Quality Assurance activities and tasks in their related area
  • Able to access, have a clear understanding of and develop the local Management System documentation e.g. policies, procedures, workmanship standards, risk assessments and processes in their related area
  • Ensure cross functional processes are deployed and adhered to
  • Lead/support internal audits and supplier audits
  • Lead the management of non-conformance resolution and corrective actions with key stakeholders and process owners
  • Lead/support Quality investigations
  • Lead effective analysis of data with resulting themes and corrective actions resulting in cross functional continuous improvements
  • Lead/support the facilitation of working groups ensuring deliverables are achieved and Learning from Experience (LfE) is captured and applied

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of APQP
  • Project Management
  • APQP, PPAP and FAIR, preferably within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment
