We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior Fuel Handling Engineer to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge project for a new type of power station.

The Senior Fuel Handling Engineer is responsible for the progressive design of RR SMR Fuel Handling systems. The role involves progressing the design of the components such as fuel racks, gates, pool structures, storage stands, and casks, as well as the layouts and sequences of Fuel Handling systems through the Definition Review (DR) process. The Senior Fuel Handling Engineer will be required to conduct decision reviews and update the DOORS database throughout the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process and beyond, regularly supervising and supporting junior colleagues in the progression of their work packages up to and including commissioning for first of a fleet and subsequent plants.

Key Selection Criteria
• A strong academic background with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and relevant work experience.
• Good planning and organising skills to manage all activities and deliverables.
• Ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment. This will include working in collaboration with external partners and suppliers.
• Have knowledge and awareness of Export Control requirements.
• Working with due regard to Health, Safety and Environment to ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, business and legislative requirements and procedures.

Pay and Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £50,000 - £60,000 plus a bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contribution. You will also receive a flexible benefit of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines and enough to power a million homes.
