We are recruiting an Aerodynamics Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield.
You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.

Key Responsibilities of the Aerodynamics Engineer:

• Manage and lead aerodynamics development across multiple vehicle projects, ensuring timely achievement of targets.
• Effectively communicate aerodynamics feedback through presentations, technical reports, and progress meetings with stakeholders. Maintain and update key documentation.
• Foster collaborative relationships with stylists, test technicians, and design engineers to meet project and business goals.
• Coordinate with cross-functional R&D teams globally (UK/Japan/France/Spain).
• Plan and organise wind tunnel testing in a European facility for vehicle development and homol-ogation.
• Conduct CFD simulations, analyse data, and provide recommendations based on flow physics.
• Manage accurate full-scale aero models for successful wind tunnel testing, collaborating with model making suppliers.
• Conduct benchmarking and aerodynamics research to stay abreast of industry trends.
• Contribute to the creation of technical papers for international conferences and seminars.

Vehicle Development:
• Achieve challenging aerodynamic performance targets for each vehicle programme.
• Successfully complete milestone tasks for each project.
• Provide regular reports to Line Manager.
• Offer support to Lead Engineer/Line Manager/Overseas Counterpart as needed.

Qualifications & Experience for the Aerodynamics Engineer:

• First or second-class honours degree in Aerodynamics or a related field, or equivalent relevant work-ing experience in aerodynamics and automotive.
• Ideally, applicants should have experience in automotive aerodynamics testing and development.
• Experience in planning and conducting aerodynamic wind tunnel tests at facilities utilising moving ground and rotating wheels.
• Demonstrate expertise in understanding the effects of rotating wheels on aerodynamic drag and lift.
• Strong understanding of real-world aerodynamics and its impact on dynamic performance im-provement.
• Basic knowledge of aeroacoustics.
• Ability to collaborate closely with Styling (Design) teams to ensure alignment in delivering aerody-namic and styling targets.
• Experience in supporting the definition of vehicle system level targets, including aerodynamic drag, lift, high-speed stability, and cooling airflow rate.
• Applicants should have a solid understanding of computational fluid dynamics methods.
• Previous experience in Automotive Aerodynamics with a strong understanding of Vehicle Aerody-namics and its impact on overall vehicle performance.
• Proactive with initiative and resourcefulness, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Strong communication skills for effective presentations at development milestone meetings and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for networking across departments in various European and Japanese locations.
• Proficient in project management, especially in work planning and time management.
• Skilled in problem-solving and data analysis, including experience with tools such as KT, FTA, FMEA, etc.

Hours & Pay for the Aerodynamics Engineer:

• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
• £27.00 p/h
