Scottish Power Renewables are looking for a Senior Installation Manager to join their EA1N and EA2 projects.

Role: Senior Installation Manager
Business: Scottish Power Renewables - EA1N & EA2
Duration: until 31st Oct 2024 with long term scope
Working Location: Tudor Street London or St Vincent Street Glasgow/hybrid style working
Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options available

Main Purpose of Job
The Senior Installation Manager shall be responsible for the design and management of the Transportation and Installation (T&I) elements of the inter array cables package for East Anglia 2 / 1 North projects.

Key Tasks

Project Management

  • Development and implementation of a package engineering plan(s) and management of any internal and external services or resources that are required to deliver the tasks identified within the engineering plan.
  • Development and implementation of a T&I Management Plan and management of any internal and external services or resources that are required to deliver the activities that are defined within this plan.
  • Coordination of all package specific interface tasks required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the project’s Interface Management Plan.
  • Responsibility for management of CVA approval process for T&I.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing an effective communication protocol, information sharing and document review process between the package management team, the Contractor, any Related Works Contractors, the Marine Warranty Surveyor, the Independent Verification Society and the Site Management teams.
  • Responsible to complete or organize, as applicable, the administrative tasks needed by the company and project(s) of assignment, related to the planning and execution of installation works.

Procurement

  • Coordination and preparation of the technical documentation that is required for inclusion within ITT and EPCI documentation package(s)
  • Technical assessment of bids including Assessment of T&I solution including consents compliance check Analysis of bidder’s programme of work Weather analysis Vessel assurance check Trenching risk assessment.
  • Supporting the technical evaluation process including coordination with all reviewers involved in the technical assessment.

Consents

  • Responsible for coordinating the preparation of the package’s consent deliverables.
  • Provision of technical assistance to the consenting team to assist them in discharging the project’s consent conditions.

Engineering

  • Responsible for the management and completion of the Conceptual Design for T&I, this shall include, Cable Route Layout, Cable burial risk assessment, Seabed Management Plan, Installation Analysis and all Interface engineering activities with WTG foundations and OSP
  • Responsible for management and approval of Contractors installation engineering activities
  • Responsible for defining a work package survey strategy and for managing the completion of all required survey works
  • Responsible for preparation of the T&I elements of any documents that are required to support the discharge of our consents
  • Responsible for ensuring a cable replacement/repair strategy and methodology is developed.

EPCI contract management
Responsible for supporting the management of EPCI Contractor, this shall include:

  • Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management of Contractors activities
  • Management of EPCI Contractors detailed design process for T&I including cable route design, cable burial plan and installation engineering.
  • Management of EPCI Contractors Transportation & Installation works including approval of Contractors procedures.

Execution of the Works

  • Responsible for the review, approval and management of change of the Contractors procedures and engineering studies and analysis
  • Responsible for liaison with and management of Marine Warranty Surveyor
  • Responsible for overseeing offshore company representatives
  • Responsible for the management and daily coordination of the offshore works including T&I and cable termination and testing
  • Responsible for managing and applying the Vessel Assurance process
  • Responsible for approving the as-installed records
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting progress against programme.
  • Responsible for providing support to the quality manager to ensure satisfactory close out of NCRs relating to transportation and installation

Knowledge transfer

  • Including but not limited to Lessons Learnt from and to other projects of the business.
  • Development of corporate procedures.
  • Technical, management and administrative support to R&D initiatives where the company is involved, as well as dissemination of results.

Key Criteria
Degree in relevant engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in subsea cables (preferably offshore wind), with 3 years’ experience as senior installation engineer level or equivalent.
Direct experience of EPCI contract procurement with value >£50m.
Proven track record of safely managing the execution of complex offshore works in hazardous marine environments.

Demonstrable experiences in:

  • subsea engineering
  • production of specification and tender documents
  • contracts (subcontracts) negotiations (technical aspects)
  • subsea cables installation method statements
  • construction planning
  • budgetary estimations
