Maintenance Operative – Waste

Our client Scottish Water are currently recruiting a team of Maintenance Operatives (Sewage) on a long-term contract, details as follows:

Key Details
Contract Duration: Initially for 1 year.
Training will be provided.
A driving licence is required, but a van will be provided.
Pay Rate: Approx £13 per hour + 38 days holiday p.a (pro rata)
37 hours per week Monday – Friday
Location: Fife Area

Job Spec
The primary focus of this role will be to attend Scottish Waters sewer assets to carry out on site investigations into potential issues highlighted by our Intelligent Control Centre. Individuals will also be expected to carry out clean ups involving the removal of sewer related debris from water courses. They will primarily work alone but on occasion with Scottish Water employees to resolve larger issues. Individuals interested will have to be self-motivated and trusted to work alone. All relevant Scottish Water digital and on-site training will be provided.

Key tasks
• Lifting manhole covers
• Inspecting sewer chambers and water courses
• Using digital sewer drawings to locate chambers
• Using basic hand tools to clean chambers, screens, and clear blockages
• Removing sewer related debris from water courses and screens
• Completing digital risk assessments and debrief reports for each task
• Compliance with health and safety procedures
• Carrying out vehicle safety audits at start of each day
• Driving a van to several sites per day

Essential Skills
• Full UK Driving License
• Able to work alone remotely
• Be IT Literate
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Willing to work with sewage – Personal Protective Equipment will be provided

Desired Skills (not mandatory)
• Experience of working on wastewater assets in particular sewers and drains
• Experience of working in an environment that takes health and safety seriously
• High Pressure Water Jetting experience
