Morson are recruiting on behalf of a leading maritime defence company based in Barrow in Furness, for a Continuous Improvement Leade role.

This a hybrid working role (Tuesday-Thursday required on site/2 days remote)

This role is paying £50.00 per hour PAYE plus £7.27 per hour holiday pay / £65.98 per hour Umbrella 

The duration is 12 months plus- likely to be long-term.

The role holder: 

Support achieving operational excellence teams across the BAE business through the management and co-ordination of improvement project data and reporting. 

A key element of the role will involve working closely with a variety of stakeholders supported by clear communication and engagement plans. Responsible for the successful delivery of specific elements of improvement project tracking, with more freedom of scope coming as experience develops.

Requirement also to assist in the development of functional capability training, coaching and mentoring for the wider Operational Excellence Function in some specific toolsets and best practice.

• Continuously review each improvement item and add updates when required.
• Review and discuss new items face to face when arise.
• Plan and facilitate ad-hoc meetings to review Continuous improvement items.
• Attend DSUM reviews and discuss / escalate where appropriate
• Email stakeholders for updates on items, manage CI inbox
• Feedback to originator the closure statement.
• Create metrics for the governance pack 2 weeks prior for distribution to the wider teams.
• Send out / manage reports to wider teams for completion and
• Support compilation of Governance pack with the governance chair for accuracy.
• Train and coach colleagues on how to access and update the CI database.
• Provide metrics of the top 5 for all review groups

Experience required:

• Working understanding of Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement methodologies including Lean and Six Sigma
• Working Knowledge of Project Management principles
• Change Management
• A strong team player across a range of circumstances
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and teams
• Ability to motivate individuals and teams to embrace change and drive improvement
• Ability to understand and break down complex issues and communicate to a variety of stakeholders
