Seeking a Senior Design Manager

The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Design Manager to join our clients team. Utilize your construction expertise to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions while ensuring effective construction phase management. The role will be based in the Teesside region on a permanent basis.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in design management activities across various sectors, including education, health, commercial, residential, retail, and industrial. You thrive in both tender and construction stages, bringing creativity, expertise, and proactive problem-solving skills to the table.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing innovative design solutions in collaboration with the design team and subcontractors.
  • Building and managing client relationships from concept stages, ensuring project expectations are met through regular communication.
  • Chairing and documenting design team meetings and workshops to arrive at cost-effective solutions aligned with procurement and construction activities.
  • Proactively applying value engineering principles throughout the design phase.
  • Managing design programs and information flow to meet procurement and construction requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving interface problems and practical construction issues.
  • Reviewing subcontract enquiries and appointing/vetting the Design Team.

What the client needs from you:

  • Proficiency in MS Office packages.
  • Experience in Collaborative platforms such as 4Projects.
  • Comprehensive site experience in an engineering or site management role.
  • Strong technical construction knowledge and familiarity with current Building Regulations.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant construction subject.
  • Understanding of M&E design and its interface with construction.
