What we are looking for

The role of Senior Human Factors Engineer is a great opportunity to apply Human Factors theory, analysis, and design techniques to bids, projects and research work. The role will be responsible for delivering human factors engineering work packages for safe products, ensuring compliance to standards, legislation and requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

Working to standards, processes & procedures, to ensure rigour, resilience and continuous improvement in solutions, compliant with specifications, quality and regulatory requirements.
Supporting the compliance of all contractual, statutory and legal requirements.
Working closely with the design, engineering, quality and production teams to ensure most cost effective solution is developed, compliant to requirements and legislation.
Identifying areas of poor ergonomics in the design and recommend improvements or alternative solutions.
Identifying areas of the product design which could impact on Ergonomics
Recommending alternative solutions to ensure that the product is easy/safe to operate and maintain in accordance with the customer requirements and expectations.
Undertaking the Human Factors tasks in accordance with Def Stan 00-251, Mil Standard 1472H and customer specifications.
Promotion of HF capabilities to customers and client presentations.
Promoting HF awareness throughout Marshall Land Systems with specific presentations to Systems Engineers and new arrivals.
Assisting with the safety arguments, safe systems of work, and analysis to support the product safety cases.
Supporting other Integrated Logistic Support activities such as the development of Technical Publications and to assist with Ease of Maintenance Assessments and Technical Publications verification with the customer.
Managing budget for delivery of own work packages.
Planning and managing a project from a Human Factors perspective through the CADMID life cycle.
Producing HF technical documents (e.g. HFI Reports, HF Considerations Registers, Manual Handling Assessments, lighting & noise assessments).
To uphold the Marshall Values.
Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental best practice.
Apply if you have most of the following:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Ergonomics, or equivalent.
Proven experience of working within a Human Factors context.
Knowledge of the practical application of appropriate HF standards.
Practical application of several of the following techniques: HCI design, vehicle/shelter design layout, task analysis, workload analysis, human reliability analysis, training needs analysis, HFI in projects.
Good knowledge of Def Stan 00-251, Def Stan 00-600 and Mil Standard 1472F.
A full understanding of Quality Management and Control systems.
Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation Requirements.
Flexible and Agile in Working remotely and in an office in different environments with the requirement to travel if necessary.
Security:

Due to the nature of our projects and the UKEO caveat attached, the applicant would need to fulfil the normal in-house BPSS procedure:
Identity (generally valid passport and/or driving licence)
Nationality and Immigration status (again, passport generally will cover this)
Employment History (3 years for MOD)
Criminal Record (unspent) via a DBS
Plus the applicant must give an account if they have spent any significant time abroad (6+ months in the last 3 years).
Once this is complete, they would be required to undertake the SC process. Each SC is dealt with on its own merits by UKSV
