Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Aerospace organisation, to recruit a HSE Lead for an initial 12 month duration. The role would be based onsite in Chester. As the role has been deemed Inside IR35, we can offer an hourly rate of £36.34 Per hour through an Umbrella Company or £27.47 Per Hour PAYE for the successful candidate.

Context

The HSE Lead will be responsible for providing a detailed level of support to the Project Leaders who are responsible for delivering key work packages. These projects cover all areas of the business from ISS / PAC, Structures, Equipping, and Paint.

The role requires an in-depth knowledge of the processes and procedures involved in bringing in, installing and commissioning industrial assets. The main aim is to prevent injury, ill health
and loss.

The overall result must include the achievement of operational and strategic functional objectives in a national & transnational context, in full compliance with relevant regulations, best
available technology and customer expectations.

Accountabilities and main activities

- Drive a ‘safety first’ culture in the team and be a ‘champion for safety’.
- Ensure employee safety through competence management, risk assessment and risk reduction, audit and legislative compliance.
- To cooperate with and seek direction and advice from the EHS team on matters of EHS strategy, policy, process and method, as necessary.
- Support and enable the Project Leaders and MFTs to ensure the scope of the projects and project teams comply with legal requirements, best practice and policy regarding
safety and health in the work environment.
- Identify potential hazards in the project scope and implementation that could lead to injury, ill health and loss and undertake risk assessments to help in setting priorities for
further control and management of risks in the work environment.
- To produce and support the implementation of appropriate local procedures, method statements and systems as required by legislation, policy or risk assessment, in the
format required by the EHS team.
- To ensure company policy on environment and health and safety risk assessment is applied to the project, and in particular direct support to the Project Leaders by consulting and performing the necessary activities to ensure all industrial asset installations are safe for operation.

This includes but is not limited to:
o PUWER Compliance
o Risk Assessment and Safe systems of work enablement and support
o Ergonomic Assessment enablement and support
o CDM compliance
o Identification of statutory inspections required
o Ensure Fire Risk Assessment is in place
o Ensure Impacts and Aspects studies are in place
o Implement, and assist with the development of, a safety training strategy that meets the needs of compliance, policy and production.
o Exercise a strong team governance inclusive of improving the ways of working through Project Management standards and principles.
o Put the company values & behaviors into practice by visibly demonstrating commitment to the values journey.
o Lead by example, increasing engagement, trust & speed of decision making.
o Contribute to the overall project lessons learned throughout.

o Safe & compliant provision of Project deliverables – via:
o Stakeholder engagement.
o Customer satisfaction.
o Strategic direction is respected.

Skills and Competencies
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of PUWER and all other applicable legislation, guidance and best practice.
- Ability to work in a team and on own initiative.
- Proven communications skills.
- Ability to write clear, concise, plain English documentation to a high standard.
- Ability to produce suitable and sufficient risk assessments that appropriately balance cost and risk.
- A good understanding of Google software.
- Record of achievement and delivery within the EHS environment.
- Minimum of two years working in a health and safety role.
- Minimum of three years working in a manufacturing environment.
- Working within the framework of formal Environment, Health and Safety management systems including:
- Risk assessment and the identification/deployment of effective controls.
- Standard Operating Procedures.
- Empathetic and supportive of both individuals and the company.
- A reliable, conscientious ‘completer / finisher’ who takes pride in adding value for the customer.
- Willing to diplomatically and objectively challenge individuals and organisations at all levels.
- Committed to continuing their professional development.
