Field Test & Service Engineer

If you’re a multi-skilled Field Service Engineer looking for your next move, this opportunity might be for you.

Our client designs, develops and manufactures some of the most complex and technically advanced systems in the World and are looking for a talented and self motivated Engineer to join their team.

The primary function is to provide high quality support to the customer. The customer may be internal (eg production and test) or external (a commercial customer), to fulfil the commitments made by the business for the life of the product, and to ensure compliance to the commitments made within contracts / agreements. The engineer will provide a level of customer service excellence by closely working with customers. The role includes undertaking equipment install, maintenance, troubleshooting and service tasks in support of the business and third-party equipment in a variety of applications at our factory and at customer’s sites. The role may require the individual to travel (Worldwide) typically to 10 to 20% of their time. A current clean driver’s licence is an advantage. The primary place of work is our facility in Havant.

Required knowledge & experience:

Technical Certificate or Degree level in an Electro-Mechanical or Chemical discipline.

Previous experience in an engineering test or service environment (preferably from a complimentary field), or 5yrs of equivalent experience in a relevant technical field such as electronics, mechanical, chemical or gas detection.

Experience in a field service role would be an advantage.

Must have a positive attitude, be energetic and enthusiastic, possess a strong willingness to learn and a commitment to excellence.

A self-starter who can set priorities, can demonstrate initiative and the ability to get the job done.

Must be capable of exercising good independent judgment.

Possess excellent customer interfacing and communication skills.

PC skills to enable equipment and service management systems to be scheduled, interrogated, and updated, and to produce concise reports.

Able to read engineering drawings and electrical diagrams.

Competent in the use of test equipment including various test meters, hand and power tools.

Possess good computer skills which includes thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Must be able to lift 20kgs without assistance.

May be required to complete training to work at height using approved fall protection equipment, and physically fit to walk long distances.

The job may involve working outside normal working hours, which will include nights and weekends as and when required.

Requirements:

Build / Test / Service of products to customers. (start up, planned maintenance and troubleshooting).

Investigate the cause and propose improvements based on the data obtained from the equipment.

Creation of work reports, technical report, presentation material, including material for manuals.

Ability to schedule and manage own workload.

Skills:

Competent in the operation of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Have a sound knowledge of Electro-Mechanical Engineering (ideally a relevant Degree / HNC / HND or indentured apprenticeship).

Leadership skills.

Fluency in English.

Good ability to work within and actively participate proactively in a team.
