We’re looking for a Quality Engineer. Based at our Capenhurst site you will play a key part in supporting, controlling, and inspecting technical processes to ensure a high standard of quality throughout the organisation.

What will your day look like?

As a Quality Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Quality Control Plans (QCPs): Establish, apply, and maintain comprehensive quality control plans, ensuring they are implemented efficiently and accurately.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse medium to complex system data to inform decisions and drive precise execution throughout the organisation.
  • Project Involvement: Participate in the design and implementation phases of projects, ensuring that quality is embedded at every stage.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives, using quality data to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Lessons Learned: Capture, document, and apply lessons learned from quality-related incidents to avoid recurrence and enhance future performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed of the latest regulatory requirements and coach internal teams on their application and proper usage.
  • Audits and Assessments: Conduct and support internal and external audits, evaluations, and assessments to ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, DIN, BSI, and other relevant standards.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Perform supplier inspections to ensure that their quality standards align with Urenco’s requirements and project expectations.

What do you need to thrive in this role?

  • Technical Background: A solid foundation in engineering (electrical or mechanical), with a clear understanding of technical business processes.
  • Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of international quality standards, including ISO, ASTM, DIN, and BSI.
  • Quality Control Experience: Proven experience in establishing and maintaining quality control processes, including the development of integrated QCPs.
  • Certification & Auditing: Experience with certification processes in technical industries and the ability to conduct quality audits and supplier inspections.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Ability to analyse complex data sets and use them to make informed decisions.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong skills in root cause analysis and problem-solving, with a track record of driving improvements based on quality issues.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of relevant quality and regulatory requirements, with the ability to ensure compliance across all project phases.
  • Project Involvement: Experience in supporting and influencing quality throughout the project lifecycle, from design to delivery.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to internal teams and external partners.

Desirable Skills

  • Risk Management: Familiarity with risk-based approaches to quality, such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Experience managing and improving supplier quality standards, building strong relationships to drive performance.
  • Continuous Improvement Tools: Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in German is a bonus, alongside fluent English.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel as part of the role, including international travel.
