And right now, we’re looking for a Maintenance Planning Team Leader. Based at our Capenhurst location you’ll be responsible for the safe and effective planning of all UUK plant maintenance tasks.  The primary responsibility is to lead the planning team to ensure the production of Maintenance Instructions defining a safe and efficient methodology for all maintenance tasks whilst containing all of the information necessary to execute the task effectively. The role will include a large amount of communication and management with other internal stake holders and external service suppliers.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Monitor, coordinate and assist the Planners in delivering their scheduled work activities to the highest standard. Providing first line technical support and back-up as required in the production of the planning activities.
  • Motivate team members to develop their skills and contribute fully to improving maintenance planning.
  • Enhance team spirit and job satisfaction through good communication, feedback, training and the maintenance of a safe and productive working environment.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team and Responsible Engineers to develop a broad understanding of departmental Asset Management systems and protocols.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement, explicitly the feedback review from each Work Order PDCA cycle ensuring improvements are captured for next time. Performing audits of task execution to validate and update planning team output.
  • Able to hold technical conversations at a detailed level to ensure that the UUK Maintenance Instructions and technical library are representative of good engineering practices and understand the underlying principles of the specific vendor recommendations with regard to safety and reliability.
  • Awareness of Safety Cases when reference is required and the ability to recognise when the UUK Change Management Process is required.
  • Have a technical understanding of scheduling activities and communicate effectively with ‘Work Control’ to drive continuous improvement of delivering maintenance activities.
  • Understand the Planning and Scheduling process, to enable the population of a full deliverable schedule by prioritising the timely delivery of planned and verified Maintenance Instructions.
  • Be able to have technical conversations when engaging with suppliers and OEM’s.
  • Be the Maintenance SAP lead providing guidance for colleagues in the correct use of SAP and Work Order management processes.
  • Request SAP improvements and updates, complete/facilitate testing and acceptance.
  • Raise and approve purchase requisitions as necessary.
  • Ability to update SAP ensuring Asset Data is correct, (functional locations, equipment, BOMs etc.).
  • Ensure all shutdown tasks (accepted worklist) are fully planned and resources defined with the required materials and contract labour.
  • Review progress and effectiveness of plans during the shutdown phase.

What do you need to be great at this role?

 

  • Minimum Requirement: Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship, coupled with attainment of an HNC/NVQ (Level 3) and/or City and Guilds certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Possession of a Degree-level qualification and/or substantial experience in a sophisticated planning capacity.
  • Technical Experience: A seasoned Mechanical or CEI technician with practical exposure within nuclear or chemical manufacturing environments. Proficient in maintaining standard process equipment such as pumps, valves, vessels, and piping systems, alongside electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Maintenance Planning Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in planning maintenance operations utilizing a CMMS/EAM system (preferably SAP with Prometheus). Proficiency in scheduling maintenance tasks/projects utilizing Gantt chart formats within CMMS platforms.
  • Risk Management and Documentation Skills: Proficiency in Risk Assessment methodologies and adeptness in drafting clear and concise work instructions/job plans.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, coupled with strong organizational skills. Demonstrated self-motivation and proactive time management skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Essential for the role is a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Collaborative Approach: A natural inclination towards collaboration, fostering agreement and confidence in proposed solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including adherence to plant-specific safety cases. Profound familiarity with UUK’s SSOW process, encompassing Permit to Work, Isolations, and Job Sign-On requisites.
  • Continuous Improvement and Contamination Control Awareness: Basic comprehension of continuous improvement systems/tools, as well as contamination control/security systems and procedures.
  • IT Literacy: Proficient in MS Office suite, CMMS (SAP), and scheduling software such as Primavera/Prometheus.
