Responsibilities
- Electrical Physical Design (and circuit and raceway).
- Responsible for raceway design, equipment location and layout, C&R schedule inputting and update, conduit and aboveground raceway design.
- Works under the direction of Engineering Group Supervisor and Lead Designer.
- Responsible to produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of lighting, communications, grounding layout, grounding designs/calculations, and lightning protection systems.
- Must be a self-starter and capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Company and industry proven concepts and procedures.
- Must have proven 2D and 3D CADD skills.
- Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the database.
- Responsibilities also include ensuring that the electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. May interface with Construction and Subcontractors.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
- Must be able to work well with other disciplines.
- Must know how to use computer programs such as the Microsoft Windows suite of programs.
- Ability to cope with conflicting deadline, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
Basic Qualifications
- AA/AS degree with 11 years of related electrical design experience; or in lieu of degree, a high school diploma or equivalent and 15 years of related design experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a Nuclear, Quality, and Safety Environment.
- Experience in nuclear plant design (power plant or DOE facility).
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
- Hands-on Microsoft Office programs and other computer programs.
- Extensive knowledge application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical raceway and electrical equipment layouts.
- Previous hands-on or extensive working knowledge industry-wide design tools, such as CAD 2D/3D, cable designing and routing software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
