Bid Manager (Civil Engineering)

Company Overview:

Join a prestigious construction firm renowned for its excellence in delivering cutting-edge civil engineering projects across the UK. With a rich history of innovation, quality, and client satisfaction, we are seeking a talented Bid Manager to lead our bid management efforts. Whether you come from a Bid Management background or have extensive experience as a Project Manager within Civil Engineering, this is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in shaping the success of our projects and our company.

Position Overview:

As a Bid Manager, you will be responsible for spearheading our bid management process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and competitive proposals for civil engineering projects. Drawing upon your expertise in bid management or project management, you will collaborate closely with internal teams to develop winning strategies and secure new business opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the bid management process, from opportunity identification to proposal submission, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, estimators, and senior leadership, to develop comprehensive bid strategies and value propositions.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of client requirements, project specifications, and market trends to inform bid strategies and differentiate our proposals.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of bid documents, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with company standards.
  • Manage bid budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to meet project objectives and maximise success rates.
  • Oversee the development of bid content, including written narratives, technical specifications, and pricing schedules, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Lead bid review meetings, providing guidance and feedback to internal teams to enhance the competitiveness of our proposals.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in bid management or project management within the construction industry, with a focus on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of bid management processes, including opportunity assessment, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market insights to inform bid strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and bid management software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential for candidates with relevant experience in bid management).

The role is four days office based, one day from home, so being within a commutable distance of Swindon is a must.
