Position Overview
The Wells Project Lead is responsible to the Project Manager for the implementation of Wells related projects within the Appraise, Select and Define phases, in accordance with key project and business objectives.

Accountabilities
Delivery of Wells related projects in line with Company Work Plan and Budget (WP&B) and Company processes and procedures
Ensure progress and maturity of projects in advance of each stage gate in accordance with Company processes. Present each project to Capex Assurance team for approval to proceed
Provide leadership and mentoring to an indirect internal team of personnel managing the delivery of multiple projects
Management of cost, spend and commitments in line with approved budgets and in accordance with Financial Authority Limits (FAL) and Company procedures
Management of project plans. Interrogate and manage project activities, intervening and expediting to ensure key project milestones are attained
Manage project risks and develop business opportunities in the delivery of projects.

Key Duties
Develop and maintain Execution Plans for projects.
Identify requirements and ensure personnel, resources and services are contracted appropriately and in a timely fashion.
Working pro-actively, ensure sufficient levels of project delivery support is requested and provided from internal functional teams.
Lead, support, guide and mentor multi-discipline and integrated teams.
Ensure timely, accurate and consistent reporting and forecasting of costs and schedules.
Interface with asset and functions to drive and optimise business performance in the efficient delivery of projects.
Interface with other asset groups and functional teams to maximize synergies and incorporation of 'lessons' in project delivery.
Execute contracting strategies relevant to the market and Company project portfolio.
Manage the performance of, and hold Contractors accountable for, scopes of work that have been awarded. Maintain contemporary and accurate records on their performance, deviations/concessions and changes in scope. Escalate conflicts, disputes and sub-optimal performance where appropriate in order to promote transparency and drive resolution.
Liaise with Capex Assurance team for matters of project governance and assurance.
Maintain effective communication with work colleagues at all levels

Education Attainment & Accreditation
Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline is preferred or considerable experience in a similar role.

Professional Skills & Experience
Broad understanding of Wells related scopes
Proven capability in supervising project and operations staff
Proven skills in problem solving in relation to project related issues
Broad and sound understanding of UK oil and gas business.
Experience in oil and gas capital Project Management
Understanding of upstream economics.
Technical knowledge of Company's assets.
