Our client a leading Oil & Gas operator are seeking a Wells Accountant for an approx 5 month contract role based in Aberdeen.
This role is part of the Wells Accounting team that reports to the Functions Lead and provides financial and accounting support in relation to 2 well abandonment campaigns. The role involves working closely with the onshore wells and decommissioning teams to ensure all cost forecasts are accurate and understood. There is also involvement with a third party who is providing cost tracking support for one of the campaigns.
Provide finance support for 2 ongoing well abandonment campaigns, to ensure that the Estimated Final Cost (EFC) and Value of Work Done (VOWD) is accurate and over/under spends are communicated in a timely manner.
Provide support on accounting for Well Abandonment activities ensuring all cost forecasts are accurate and understood
Complete monthly cost forecast updates in Infocore. monitor the level of accruals, challenge forecasts and understand any changes to the EFC.
Interrogate the third-party cost tracking system and review the Cost to Date and EFC to ensure the forecast is robust
Provide monthly variance commentary for corporate reporting
Build strong relationships with the Wells and Decommissioning team through regular communication. Be proactive, highlight any improvements to processes or financial output and raise any issues early to ensure there are no surprises
Support the Business in the preparation of additional AFEs as required
Ad hoc requests/analysis as required.
Education Attainment & Accreditation
Qualified or Experienced accountant with oil and gas industry and wells accounting experience essential
Professional Skills & Experience
Relevant wells accounting experience is essential
Highly numerate, with good attention to detail
Analytical approach with ability to interpret & articulate results
Proven track record of working well in a team environment
Strong working knowledge of SAP and Maximo is preferred

Highly organized, with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
Strong communication and team-working skills with ability to liaise at all levels in the organisation
