Qualified MMA & FCAW welders required for repair & re-fit work on-board the royal naval submarines based at Devonport dockyard.
Successful candidates must be able to carryout the following tasks:
Undertake the structural alterations or build modules by following engineering drawings on naval surface ships and submarines.
Must be competent to work within multi-trade teams to co-ordinate these structural alterations.
Competent to read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
Have the ability to align, prepare the weld joint and then weld structural seam to a specified weld procedure. The thickness of the materials is typically 8mm-24mm.
Be able to use basic gouge and edge preparation through grinding.
Have the ability to use basic hand tools, guillotines, and band saws.
Competent to weld using both MMA & MIG Flux-core process's in mainly carbon steel and stainless.
Able to clean own work arisings.
Carry out any slinging duties as required.
Any other task within the individual's competence as directed by the company.
You will be required to undertake testing at either Lloyds or EN287 standards in both MMA & FCAW
12 month contract initially.
