MMA and Flux core
Location: Factory, Devonport Royal Dockyard,Plymouth
12 months contract
36 hours standard (overtime is a possibility)
This is a workshop based position based on heavy plating.
Undertake the structural alterations or build modules by following engineering drawings on naval surface ships and submarines.
Competent to work within multi - trade teams to co - ordinate these structural alterations.
Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
Ability to align, prepare the weld joint and then weld structural seam to a specified weld procedure. The thickness of the materials is typically 8mm-12mm
Ability to use basic gouge and edge preparation through grinding.
Ability to use basic hand tools, guillotines, and band saws.
Weld processes which are used on MMA, MIG Flux-core and occasionally TIG in mainly carbon steel and stainless. They tested at either Lloyds or EN287.
Cleaning up of own work arising.
Slinging duties as required.
Any other task within the individual's competence as directed by the company.
Required:In date coddings for MMA and Fluxcore and experience in the required procedures.
All selected applicants will undergo through MOD clearance process.
