FCAW Welders required to carry out welding work on Royal Naval surface ships in for re-fit & repair works at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.
You will be required to:
Undertake the structural alterations or build modules by following engineering drawings on naval surface ships and submarines.
Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
Cleaning up of own work arising.
Slinging duties as required.
Any other task within the individual's competence as directed by the company.
Competent to work within multi - trade teams to co - ordinate these structural alterations. Ability to align, prepare the weld joint and then weld structural seam to a specified weld procedure. the thickness of the materials is typically 8mm-24mm.
Ability to use basic gouge and edge preparation through grinding.
Ability to use basic hand tools, guillotines, and band saws.
You will be tested to either Lloyds or EN287 standards.
Indentured Apprenticeship/ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a sheet metal, structural steel or fabrication related discipline/ Indentured or Level 2/Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in Fabrication & Welding.
