Our client, the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) in Oxfordshire is the UKs national laboratory for fusion research. With a strong focus upon cutting edge science and technology CCFE is one of the countrys most prestigious research hubs are currently seeking a WELDER for an immediate ongoing contract position.
Candidates living within a 50 mile radius of the Abingdon area would be more suitable, as no travel, or lodge is paid on this role.
To be a formally qualified and coded manual welder (in accordance with both the ASME IX standard (6G) and the EN 9606 standard (H-L045). Being able to produce production type welds (to a very high standard) in various types and sizes of tube, pipe and sheet materials including Stainless Steels, Aluminium and its Alloys, Carbon Steels and High Nickel Alloys.
The welding requirements can be from 3mm diameter with a wall thickness of 0.5mm, more generally they are 6.0mm diameter with a 1.0mm wall thickness. Other requirements are 2â€ Nominal bore Schedule 10 pipework, we rarely weld anything over a diameter of 150mm with a wall thickness of up to 3mm.
