The focus of this role is to co-ordinate waste management field operations to approved waste management procedures and standards, whilst providing waste management services to Projects and Site Infrastructure in order to ensure compliant disposal of waste.
Provision of specified services to internal/external customers to agreed standards.
To carry out designated work packages to standards of safety, cost, quality and time.
Provide advice and guidance on issues appropriate to his or her working area.
Active involvement in improvement initiatives and projects.
Develop the skills and abilities of others for the benefit of the company.
To record new and use existing data, to check validity of the data, and to use this for the purpose of analysis and reporting.
Ensures all relevant safety rules and procedures are applied by all staff.
Compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments.
Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety Environment and Quality on Site.
As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.
Support colleagues learning and development through knowledge sharing, task instruction etc.
Support the effective deployment of company wide policies, processes, systems and procedures ensuring that at all time the business remains compliant. This includes, but is not limited to, the need to comply with the company's Equality and Diversity Policy and undertake identified associated learning and development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
HNC or HND or equivalent technical qualification (NQF Level 5) in a scientific, environmental or engineering discipline OR demonstrable experience in waste operations, management and procedures role (Essential)
Knowledge of environmental issues including practices, policies, legislation and stakeholders relating to radioactive and non radioactive waste management (Essential)
Relevant experience in nuclear industry in areas of waste management (Essential)
Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor Certificate (Desirable)
International Movement of Dangerous Goods Certificate (Desirable)
Experience in developing waste inventories together with records management (Desirable)
