Vice President Operations

Morson is currently recruiting for a Vice President of Operation to join a leading energy asset company. This is a fantastic and rare opportunity, our Client is a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group, that specializes in the due diligence, optimization, and management of power generation facilities in the United States. The position is located in Princeton, New Jersey.


We currently have a great opportunity for a Vice President Operations. The position will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer, and will be responsible for managing the operations of power generation facilities and assets within the companies portfolios in the United States. Currently, the company manages approximately 6.9 GW of generation in Texas, Ohio and Indiana.

Primary Responsibilities:

▪ Actively oversee and coordinate the operations of all U.S. based facilities currently managed by the company as well as future assets that will be acquired
▪ Maintain a focus on continuous optimization, improvement and cost efficiency
▪ Lead all efforts for exceptional safety and environmental performance
▪ Support and assist with the development and coordination of regularly occurring detailed budgets for the Facilities
▪ Support business development on technical aspects of new development projects
▪ Negotiate long-term service agreements, as necessary, with third-party service providers
▪ Negotiate large services and construction contracts, as necessary, with third-party providers
▪ Proactively lead the operations team for all Facilities through coordination of the team with third party O&M providers, as necessary


▪ Bachelors and/or Masters degree in engineering or equivalent field within power generation and/or energy
▪ Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in the energy field leading the operations of multiple generation facilities, with substantive operational and engineering knowledge of combustion technology, boiler and steam turbines
▪ Must have an extreme focus on safety and environment-over-production
▪ High proficiency in effectively leading individuals and teams
▪ Direct operational experience of power generation required
▪ Experience in negotiating large-scale contracts
▪ Must have a high level of self-awareness, motivation and ability to communicate openly and timely with team members
▪ Proven technical and communications skills, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills
▪ Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
▪ Excellent time management and organizational skills
