We have an excellent opportunity for a TRANSVERSE ENGINEERING MANAGER (Highways and utilities)

The successful Candidate would be working for our Client to support the Construction Joint Venture for the design of Packages of HS2 Phase 1 - reporting to the Package Engineering Manager.

Discipline Leads and Assistant Engineering Managers will report into the successful Candidate.


The Transverse Engineering Manager will manage design delivery of highway, utility, and other engineering assets that cross the HS2 route.
The role is responsible for producing a coordinated multidisciplinary design solution that develops the Scheme design to detailed design for construction implementing the requirements and managing change to the solution in accordance with the project requirements.


You will:
Support the Engineering Manager
Be accountable for technical delivery in the Package Delivery Centres for Transverse Assets
Drive project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes and undertaking reviews, ensuring delivery is above client expectation
Deliver compliant and fully integrated designs
Ensure total client satisfaction through open communication of technical issues.
Promote the interests of the Joint Venture for the collective benefit of the Members.


Transverse Engineering Manager will:

Be an experienced engineering design manager
Proven experience of working in a similar project environment highway and utility projects
Proven experience of leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver to the satisfaction of the client
Capable of exercising sound judgement, leading and facilitating decision making on complex issues among multiple stakeholders
Team oriented leader with the ability to work closely with peers, with the ability to delegate, motivate and empower individuals and teams
Proven experience in delivery on large infrastructure projects
Be able to plan and manage tasks to time, budget and quality.
Have good knowledge of CDM and broad design and engineering experience to ensure production of safe and healthy designs.
Understand how to manage health, safety and welfare within area of responsibility.
Be knowledgeable about risk management processes.
Use leading and lagging health and safety indicators to reinforce project health and safety culture and promote continuous improvement in health and safety behaviours and performance.
Have a sound knowledge of sustainable development best practice and routinely deliver sustainable technical solutions.
Must be a striver for success, and a doer rather than delegator.
