As the UK's Perkins engine experts, we supply, service and support the complete range of Perkins engines, used in a variety of markets and applications.
Di Perk has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to join their established team in Peterborough.
Add value to customer through developing and maintaining innovative and profitable product applications and solutions
Manage a Diperk new product introduction (NPI) process covering both engine sales and the aftermarket.
Ensure that EH&S obligations to self and team are met.
Gather and analyse relevantet data to identify potential commercial opportunities and identify trends
Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure that all Perkins products and services are presented in a manner befitting the Corporate image
Coordinate across internal functions and departments to ensure that the highest levels of customer service are provided to the stated customer base.
Build relationships with key personnel within customer organisations.
Develop & utilize a range of sources to ensure industry sector and application knowledge is maintained at an appropriate level within the team
Manage & direct a team to maximize existing and new business opportunities, both in terms of revenue and profitability and customer loyalty.
Work with Perkins to ensure brand integrity
Understand changing market needs and customer drivers
Develop technical skills and performance of the Sales Teams
Transfer existing applications to new customers
Continually review existing applications to ensure that they offer best value to the customer and Diperk whilst complying with existing and known future legislation
Support the sales coordinator team in the production of quotations and requests for customer information
Liaise with Perkins to ensure all developments receive the appropriate and agreed level of A & I sign-off
Actively support the CRM process, ensuring timely and accurate updating of customer records
Part of the role you should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of A&I approvals unit sales,cross selling, repeat business through relationship building and lost sales reporting.
You will also be responsible for H & S compliance, revenue, profit, individual customer plans, Database Management Forecast Accuracyand Customer satisfaction/ loyalty.
As a Technical Manager a key part of the role will be managing a team and able to overcome obstacles that the role may experience.
You will also be responsible for keeping technical information up to date and precise, whist signing off A & I.
You will need a high level of achievement drive and the initiative to achieve team work and co-operation from your colleges on a day to day basis.
The role will involve conceptual and creative thinking whist your influencing and relationship building skills play a key role in the Technical Manager position.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Sound knowledge of diesel engine technology including ancillary systems and parts.
Some commercial experience preferably in a Direct capital goods or and service sales role experience.
(ideally of graduate calibre or with a strong engineering and or sales background 8-10 years)
Able to demonstrate experience of A&I process
Strong presentation and communication skills
Strong influencing skills with the ability to operate at all levels of the customer organisation
Sound knowledge of Perkins business, products and sales support tools
Detailed sector and industry knowledge
Understanding of sales planning processes
