Job Description

A vacancy exists for a Technical Author based at RAF Coningsby. The successful candidate will be required to produce and maintain On-Aircraft Ground Crew maintenance publications, ensuring that data is produced in accordance with the applicable quality requirements/standards, end-user needs/requirements and in-line with the agreed programme and budget.

Applicants will need to have proven IT skills and, in particular, have current, broad-based experience of using modern electronic production toolsets and either Standard Generalised Mark-up Language (SGML), or Extensible Mark-up Language (XML). In addition, they must also be proficient at verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively research source data and identify/clearly articulate potential issues . Familiarity with Technical Publications specification ASD S1000D is essential.

Strong inter-personal skills are essential, with particular emphasis on two-way communication and team working. Recent experience in the Aerospace industry or the operation/maintenance of military aircraft will be an advantage.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks in-line with the requirements of the Role, which includes, but is not limited to, the following: - Preparation of new and updated National Data Modules in accordance with departmental procedures and quality requirements - Raising internal change requests to initiate rectification of errors identified during Data Generation activity - Generation of accurate and pertinent supporting data to allow effective/efficient task management and identification/resolution of issues - Management of personal workload, to ensure allocated tasks are prioritised accordingly and completed on-schedule and within the specified budget - Maintaining the validity of management information to ensure accurate configuration control is maintained - Proactively supporting Team meetings, by providing accurate, concise status information and where necessary, identifying and reporting on risks/opportunities related to individual tasks - Engaging and liaising with applicable stakeholders, to ensure successful completion of data review/validation requests and, where necessary, clarifying comments raised by the review/validation authorities.

Additional Information

WORKING HOURS - 5 days p/wk (Mon-Fri) around relevant site core hours (7.30am - 4.30pm Mon - Thurs, 7.30am - 12pm Fri).

- Hours required to work per week are 37.00 unless otherwise stated (this does not include lunch breaks).

- Start and finish times to be agreed with local Line Management, in accordance with local site core hours. - Lunch break allowance is 30 minutes between 12.30 - 1:00pm (or as agreed with Line Manager). 30 mins will automatically be deducted each working day by the electronic time management system.

- Dependant on workload, local management may request more or less hours are worked within this contract.
