Morson International is looking for Technical Author for our client based in Southampton.

Publications:

We are looking for dynamic engineers who can analyse, define and create technical publications to military specifications. The successful applicant will define the format and structure to be used in the generation of paper and electronic technical publications and provisioning documentation to meet customer needs. Evidence of technical writing which supports clear simplified English will be expected.

Documentation format:

To join the team you will need to have a high degree of knowledge in S1000D, producing data modules for an exacting client, converting from word to XML and amending the XML documents using XMLSPY. (or similar package)

Graphical skills:

The applicant will need to have a working knowledge and experience of Adobe Illustrator in order to highlight to the customer/user the link between part numbers and parts within an illustration. (Adobe tools using layers maybe a suitable crossover)

Integrated Logistics Support (ILS):

Have a deep understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS). The role will require the collation of ILS elements to support the creation of technical writing.

MS OFFICE:

The successful candidate will arrive with excellent MS Word skills and advanced knowledge of styles and formatting, paragraph numbering, creation of linked pdfs. Good graphical skills using PowerPoint and Visio are also required.

  • Technical Publications

The publications team and the training team work together to provide the cohesive support across these two disciplines. As more and more learning is turning to online it is important that the candidate will have an interest in looking towards future mechanisms for supporting projects.

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of the content and format used in typical Technical Publications in S1000D format and provisioning documentation specifications.

The ideal candidate shall have extensive knowledge of the content and format used in most military, civil or commercial Technical Publications and Provisioning Documentation specifications.

Evidence of Experience in identifying and structuring procedural tasks and descriptive tasks will be expected. The successful application must be able to work unaided and be able to coordinate , data and from source material.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
