Systems Engineering Manager

Location: Crawley

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £50 to £56 per hour LTD

We are looking to recruit a Systems Engineering Manager to work on an Air to Ground Satcom / 4G LTE aircraft communication project. The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible to the Programme Manager for the execution and delivery of assigned Work Packages and tasks to budget and schedule.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Requirements Engineering (Capture, Analysis, Articulation, Allocation and Apportionment)
  • Requirements Management (Traceability, Change Control)
  • Preparation of Requirement Specifications
  • Preparation of ICD's
  • Preparation of Technical Statements of Work for equipment suppliers
  • Preparation of Integration Specifications
  • Preparation of Plans and Specifications for Subsystem testing (ground and flight)
  • Preparation of Acceptance Test Schedules (ATS)
  • System Architecture Development and System Design
  • Documentation of trials results and provision of airworthiness data
  • Management of equipment supply subcontractors associated with a programme
  • Reporting of progress against Budget and Schedule
  • Identification of resource needs and skills
  • Management of Risk & Opportunities
  • Allocation of tasks and management of priorities
  • Liaison and ability to communicate effectively at meetings with customer

Proven Abilities / Key Skills

Essential:

  • Background in Avionics development
  • Good knowledge of Work Package Management
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle
  • Understanding of Requirements Engineering & Management
  • Requirements capture and management in tools such as DOORS
  • Knowledge of how Avionic systems interrelate and interconnect

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of RF, navigation and data bus technologies
  • Knowledge of aircraft Environmental & EMC requirements
  • Knowledge of Human Factors and Operator Aspects of Avionic Systems
  • Understanding of Integration, Verification & Validation (IVV)
  • Understanding of Qualification & Certification Requirements
  • Ability to interface with third party organisations
  • PC Literate: Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Visio
