Systems Engineer - Design Verification

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £44.90 per hour LTD

Our client seeks a Design Verification Systems Engineer to work within their submarine division, on site in Barrow-in-Furness.

The role may include, but not be limited to the following activities:

  • Independent assessment of established system designs for communication and audio systems
  • Review and critique of communications and audio system documentation packs for marine systems
  • Review requirements and design standards
  • Review of design descriptions, calculations, test requirements, test and qualification evidence for compliance against requirements
  • Review of drawings and diagrams for compliance against requirements
  • Working across project groups to ensure designs meet the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements
  • Produce a Design Verification report for each communication and audio systems

Proven Ability / Key Skills

  • Extensive technical report writing skills
  • A detailed understanding of at least one of the following disciplines:
    • Design and deployment of Voice Over IP (VOIP) networks
    • Deployment of Private Branch Exchange systems
    • Acoustics Modelling and Simulation
    • Speech Quality Analysis
    • Design of Public Address or Voice Alarm or Installed Sound Systems
    • Design of audio distribution systems
    • Design of trunked radio systems
    • Design of military tactical communications systems
    • Design of communications systems for safety critical applications
    • Design and installation of electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres
  • Knowledge in an enterprise, public sector, nuclear, or defence environment
  • Proven track record of system or equipment design
  • Proven ability in electronic equipment development through a formal lifecycle
  • Knowledge in defence standards, would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of classification society rules, International and UK marine equipment legislation, would be an advantage

Due to the sensitive nature of the product all applicants must have worked within the Defence / Military industry within the last 12 months or be capable of obtaining Security Clearance (SC level minimum).
