Description of the Job

Our client requires a Systems Data Fusion Engineer to support the IS Design IPT in achieving development of sensor fusion algorithms and conceptual capability for a next generation combat aircraft.

Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Develop algorithms for data fusion and innovative processing methods
  • Design/Develop data fusion techniques that deliver world leading functional capabilities for a next generation fast jet
  • Embed fusion algorithms within the system architecture to deliver the required functionality
  • Perform analysis and modelling of multi-sensor data sets to demonstrate the effectiveness of developed fusion algorithms
  • Work closely with sensor, communication, data, and fusion subject matter experts
  • Conduct dynamic systems modelling and simulation of integrated airborne mission / sensor / communications systems
  • Create technical documentation to capture/define system design, as well as formal specifications, reports and presentations for delivery to internal/external customers and industry partners

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong background in designing, developing and modelling data fusion
  • Understanding of Kalman Filters and Bayesian principles
  • Strong Mathematical skills, including probability theory, statistics and matrix algebra
  • Knowledge of association and fusion techniques for heterogeneous and / or homogeneous sensor types
  • High proficiency in the use of mathematical modelling tools (e.g. MATLAB)
  • Strong analytical ability, to support functional and performance trade-off studies
  • Ability to cope with a high degree of design complexity and significant levels of uncertainty

Due to the sensitive nature of the product all applicants must have worked within the Defence / Military industry within the last 12 months or be capable of obtaining Security Clearance (SC level minimum)
