Warton, Lancashire - 12 month contract - Pay rate £40 p/h Ltd or £35.66 PAYE including holiday pay

We are looking to recruit a Systems Engineer to undertake model based systems engineering for a range of different in-service engineering projects. Our client has opportunities available within their Air sector business, focussed on the design of through life Service Systems in the Military Air environment.

The Service Systems Engineers helps to define, develop, test, qualify and implement through-life service solutions for our customers. From on-base maintenance services to managing global supply chains, or back-office engineering support to mission planning and air crew training, this is a unique role that will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in all stages of the design lifecycle and across the full scope of our clients in-service activities.

As our client moves towards a model-based approach to engineering our service solutions, our Service Systems Engineers will continually be developing new digital capability whilst gaining a wide-range of skills in modern engineering tools and methods relevant to a career in the 'information age'.

You will be a motivated and a proactive individual, able to analyse complex problems and work autonomously and in a structured manner. You will have excellent communications skills - written & verbal, and be confident liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

As you will be working across a number of different projects at any one time with key milestones to achieve, you will thrive in a team environment, be adaptable to taking on new tasks or changes in priority, and be able to manage your own workload with confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessing customer requirements to understand the functional nature of new service solutions, or changes to existing service solutions
  • Deriving technical functional and performance requirements for service solutions
  • Working with multi-disciplined Subject Matter Experts to capture the design of component parts of the service solution (inputs/outputs, processes, locations, resources, and information needs)
  • Integrating the component parts of the service solution into a single electronic model in order to:
  • Test integration between the components of the service solution
  • Test integration of the service solution with the broader support system
  • Verify the service solution meets technical, performance and regulatory/legislative requirements
  • Facilitate safety hazard analysis for the service solution
  • Assess the impact of changes to service requirements or solution assumptions
  • Analyse service operations to identify opportunities or risks
  • Aid communication and decision making through presentation of structured service solution information
  • Providing evidence from the service solution design into key internal and external reviews, such as Design Reviews, Technical Reviews, and Contract Closure Meetings.
  • Supporting the implementation of service solutions through Declaration of Service Readiness

Requirements:

  • Proven ability undertaking full lifecycle Systems Engineering activities with the defence / aerospace sector.
  • Proven ability using IBM Rational DOORS (or equivalent toolset) and any Enterprise Architecture toolset.
  • The candidate should have good knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Communication, Team Working Adaptability and Self Motivation are essential.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a STEM subject.
