Supplier Assurance Team Leader - Product with evidence of experience in Ship build environments through all stages of build, outfit and integration is required by our client BAE Systems to provide direction and line management to the Supplier Assurance - Product team, driving successful completion of all equipment and material verifications, in line with delivery schedules to ensure compliant products are available to the ship build teams.
The Supplier Assurance Team Leader will ensure business wide adherence to the processes for preparation, testing and inspection of equipment, liasing with the Supply Chain and Engineering teams to validate all information is available and acceptable prior to inspection and will also capture, collate and analyse all inspection and test outputs identifying trends and root cause of defects, using the results to inform both future inspections and supplier surveillance activities.

The role involves but is not limited to the following:

Ensure all defined product and material verifications are completed to a high professional standard in line with service level agreements across the supplier base, central warehouse and in yard goods receipt.
Ensure all product certification requirements are understood communicated and adhered to, including appropriate record keeping in line with contractual and record retention requirements.
Lead the development and implementation of improvement initiatives focused on both the operation and efficiency of the supplier assurance processes along with the conformance of supplied products.
Build strong relationships and drive collaborative working with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Supplier Assurance and product verification processes delivers the required benefit and confidence in product conformance.
Develop and initiate a Material Review Board process engaging all relevant stakeholders to assess and respond to material issues in a timely manner.
Support the teams development through cross training and shadowing to achieve a flexible and multi skilled team.
Lead the initiation, execution and close out of product investigations required following a recordable quality escape identified through the supply chain, communicating with key business stakeholder of the outcomes.
Ensure the prerequisite inspection plans, checklists and templates are understood, defined and used consistently in line with the product and contract requirements.
Measure, collate and analyse verification data to inform the management team on trends and required improvements, creating the required weekly and monthly project reports and status.

Set vision, plan and priorities for the team and ensure objectives to deliver are defined and performance managed.
Demonstrate value to the business on the benefits of Quality through embedding improvements and supporting the production teams.
Ability to evaluate situations and conflicting priorities and determine clear strategies to address and overcome.
Willingness to seek support and advice from across the business and through external sources.
Responsibility to deliver a strategy and framework to assure production performance in achieving quality balanced with schedule and cost requirements.
Requirement to demonstrate benefits to the programme and business through the reduction of Production performance risk.
Critical interface between Production, customer and associated stakeholders to demonstrate product conformance to the defined standard.

The following functional knowledge is required
Proven Quality Management knowledge and experience.

Evidence of experience in Ship build environments through all stages of build, outfit and integration.
Proven knowledge of equipment and material inspection processes, requirements and standards.
Capability to lead quality investigations in line with company process to determine root cause and permanent corrective actions.
Preferable experience in the use of Quality tools and techniques.
Manufacturing and cross trade process knowledge.
Knowledge of relevant Defence (DEF STANS) and ISO standards (9001:2015).
Business Expertise (Requirements of the position for knowledge and expertise about the business rather than the technical expertise)
Line management and supervisory experience.
Proven ability to plan and priorities multiple activities.
Knowledge of core business management and reporting processes.
Ability to interact and negotiate with all levels in the company to achieve successful outcomes.
Engage with senior representatives of external companies in a professional and constructive manner.
Trusted to represent the company during supplier visits and lead discussions following completion of surveillance assessments and inspections.
Strong leadership and direction to ensure the team performance is maintained and benefits delivered.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
