Our client is a top defence customer and requires a stress engineer to join their team on Regional Aircraft at their site in Prestwick, Scotland. Further Details below:

You will be working as part of the Engineering team that develops upgrades and delivers design solutions in support of the Regional Aircraft OEM fleet and the Military Aircraft products. This is a technical role relating to the Structural Analysis aspects of delivering aircraft modifications. You will undertake Structural Analysis tasks with respect to both new products and the release of existing design into legacy products.

Your main responsibilities as a Structures Engineer will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Conducting a wide range of activities including feasibility studies, research, analysis, involving the full Engineering Lifecycle, to meet defined project requirements
  • Performing Structural analysis to support the certification of aircraft modifications
  • Structural analysis using Finite Element tools to determine load distributions within structures
  • Static strength analysis using a variety of techniques, to assure that the structure is strong enough to withstand loads
  • Damage tolerance analysis to assess the ability of the structure to withstand fatigue damage
  • Understanding aerospace regulations and certification requirements
  • Identifying areas of Technical Risk and Opportunity
  • Supporting aircraft surveys
  • Exhibiting good decision making skills
  • Being able to operate effectively with other Engineering disciplines
  • Being capable of presenting effectively during design reviews
  • Delivering a planned output to Schedule, Quality and Cost
  • Ensuring that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and business processes, standards, procedures and documentation
  • Agreeing your work plan with your operational engineering manager and deploying structural engineering methods, processes and data for activities within your span of control
  • Reporting progress through weekly Operation and Achievement reviews

Your skills as a Structures Engineer:

  • Experience of Structural Analysis in aerospace structural or mechanical engineering
  • Possess a logical approach to problem solving

You will be able to work effectively both independently, as well as within a team, with an honest and transparent attitude to the professional working environment. Good communication skills are essential.
