Main Purpose The Structural Designer is responsible for the definition of the design solution(s) and production of deliverables to the required standards. The role requires a good understanding of engineering and design practices as relevant to the individual's discipline and the holder must be able to demonstrate appropriate CAD competencies as well as good written and verbal communications. This individual will be able to demonstrable success within the Oil and Gas or Marine Industries. A thorough understanding of UKCS regulatory requirements will be advantageous, and the candidate must be fully capable of providing specialist designer support within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Significant experience in one or more of the following design areas will be essential * Structural Scantling Plans * Structural modification and arrangement drawings * General Arrangement drawings * Outfit & Accommodation arrangements * Foundation and seating drawings * Material Take Offs Tasks and Activities * Preparation/production of drawings in line with recognised ISO standards to the required time, cost and quality requirements. * Identify procedures, codes and standards and how they are applied to technical activities. * Ensure task and project risks are communicated appropriately. * Apply engineering domain knowledge to produce technical solutions and documentation in support of assigned tasks and project. * Preparation, production and maintenance of project documentation as required by the relevant design lifecycle phase. * Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including contribution to design reviews. * Develop innovative design solutions. * Provide solutions to by assisting in the resolution of Technical Queries. * Interface with customers and supply chain on design issues and assist with procurement specifications. * Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
Qualifications & Experience
- ONC or an equivalent engineering academic qualification.
- Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.
- A basic understanding of engineering and design practice as relevant to individual discipline.
- An understanding of Risk Management.
- An understanding of Company/Departmental procedures relating to Design, Health, Safety and Environment, and Quality requirements.
- IT literate (AutoCAD, AVEVA, FORAN, Microsoft office, etc).
