Post Title: Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Officer
Salary : Competitive
Based in a school full time, the main responsibility of this role will be to ensure that all service level agreement objectives are met and surpassed through strategic planning, excellence in delivery, strong working relationships and continuous monitoring and evaluation. This role has funding in place for 3 years currently with the hope and expectation for further funding to be found once established in post.
Leadership and Strategy
- Build development plans that will increasingly challenge, enhance skills, shape a positive attitude and foster a confident approach to meeting objectives.
- Create a learning environment that is inspiring, dynamic, challenging and educational.
- Determine the need for; preparing, developing and maintaining general and specialist equipment and resources.
- Plan and lead regular progress meetings with teaching staff in School and College regarding pupil progress to ensure their agreed individualised education plans remain relevant and on track.
- Develop and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders within the partnership including with local community groups and organisations.
- Keep up to date with Government strategy & policies on education changes to the National Curriculum and OFSTED/Department for Education SEN requirements for both school and college.
- Collaborate with parents and carers, and adopt a multi-agency approach to ensuring the needs of children and young people are met.
- Work with the Disability Sport and Inclusion Officer and recognised school representatives to manage, monitor evaluate and innovate the service level agreement objectives to ensure they remain relevant, unique and aligned to the strategic vision of the Foundation and the partner school.
- Contribute to the strategic planning of and lead the operational delivery of Foundation events and programmes within the partner school.
Management and Operations
- Work with the Disability Sport and Inclusion Officer to ensure the partnership is satisfying all required monitoring and evaluation requirements.
- As directed by the Disability Sport and Inclusion Officer, maintain registers, collect all relevant data, information and evidence of good practice to support funding conditions and for the formulation of case studies.
- Work with the Disability Sport and Inclusion Officer to coordinate and facilitate external events to support SLA objectives and in the fostering of a team ethos within the Disability and Inclusion department.
- Complete risk assessments to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at all times in accordance with Manchester United Foundation and Manchester United Football Club's policies.
- Support the Disability Sport and Inclusion Officer and other divisions in the delivery of football/sports tournaments and enrichment events.
- Maintain FA coach license award and other qualifications where applicable.
Education and Qualifications
- Demonstration of academic achievement in secondary and/or further education.
- A full and clean UK driving licence (or recognised equivalent).
- Minimum GCSE Grade C or Level 4 in Mathematics and English.
- FA Level 2 in coaching football and relevant disability sport coaching awards.
- Youth work qualification is desirable
- A minimum of two years' experience working (paid or volunteering) with children and young people, preferably within a charitable, school or sporting environment.
- Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the legislation governing the provision of services for children with special educational needs.
- Proven ability of engaging with a range of stakeholders and external partners in order to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
- Experience of scoping, delivering, monitoring and evaluating a range of physical activity programmes.
- Experience of managing partnerships and programmes, demonstrating a passion for innovation, creativity and excellence is desirable
- Experience of implementing or working with SEN legislation also desirable
