Position Title: Through Life Solution Architect

Position Description
Solution Architect for Deign, ILS, Maintenance Management Solutions, In-Service Support Solutions that are deployed on ship and ashore
Primarily working within IS&S to ensure a robust and integrated application and technical infrastructure.
Works within the Enterprise Architecture team to align architecture to business and function strategy.
Support Lead Innovation Solution Architect

Core Duties
* Own and manage all aspects of the as-is Application Architecture for the IS&S Solutions for Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback
* Provide detailed advice regarding methods, tools and their application for IS&S Solutions for Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback
* Ensure that relevant strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly
* Provide subject matter expertise in the definition of application components and their re-use
* Ensure that the Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback application architecture and design patterns are documented in accordance with the Enterprise Architecture method and approach
* Work with Project Managers to ensure that projects are maintaining the technical standards and design necessary to ensure an integrated architecture.
* Participate in checks on the effectiveness of interfaces across the Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback landscape
* Develop the application architecture Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback for use in different mobile devices
* Deploy and apply strategies that map out the future systems/information landscape and advise the IS&S Lead Application Architect on future roadmap opportunities with an initial focus on mobile applications
* Identify technology partners to design/develop/provide application components that meet requirements and needs of the architecture
* Assess COTS products and software frameworks for inclusion in the Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback solutions
* Work with colleagues within IS&S to ensure interoperability between Titanium, UMMS, SIE and SAP and their use of common application components
* Work with colleagues across the Maritime Sector to advise them on the content of the Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback solutions

Functional Knowledge (Requirements for knowledge of functional work and activities)
* University degree educated
* Application Architecture experience of at least 10 years
* Software development experience of at least 3 years
* Knowledge of the business needs and business function that drive the requirements for Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback
* A breadth of technical knowledge that includes
o the needs for the end user experience and the application technologies that are required to implement it (e.g. JavaScript, React, JSON, OAuth )
o application development frameworks and technologies (e.g. .NET, Java, ESB (iWay) )
o application interfaces and related technologies (e.g. REST )
o data access and database management architectures and technologies e.g. (e.g. Oracle, SQLServer, PL-SQL)
* A good understanding of the application and infrastructure architectures present in the Maritime deployed environment and solutions that meet security accreditation constraints
* A good understanding of mobile platform architectures and the application and infrastructures issues in re-architecting solution for use in different mobile devices
* A Solution Architecture experience of at least five years
* A good understanding of architecture principles, presentation and communication skills
* The ability to set and uphold technical standards required for Design, ILS, Maintenance Management and In-Service Support Feedback
