Our client seeks a Software Quality Assurance Manager to join their Air Traffic Management Quality function. This post will provide Quality Assurance support to assigned projects, planning and undertaking quality surveillance activities for software, working with suppliers and internal integration teams to achieve requirements. The role will include predominately Software Quality assurance, advising the quality team where software expertise is required, conducting software related audits, surveillance of subcontractors, requirements management, Software Version Control, Issue management, qualimetry tooling, addressing customer complaints, liaising with Customers Quality Assurance Representatives (QAR), identifying areas for process improvement, involvement and/or leading improvement activities.

This role may include occasional working at other sites in the UK and abroad and also work off-site at Customer or Supplier establishments.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Plan and implement Software Quality Assurance on assigned projects in accordance with the Company Reference system and Contract and Regulatory Requirements DO-278A, including Tender and Contract Review
  • Act as a Software Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Quality function
  • Work with QA and Project team members to assist in meeting software objectives, targets and deadlines
  • Generate QA inputs for Project Reviews and lifecycle-related Design Reviews
  • Lead and undertake project QA activities to ensure that software tasks are carried out in accordance with agreed Work Packages and certification plans
  • Perform software related audit/assessment and surveillance activities and follow-up on any issues and non-conformances
  • Be one of the prime points of contact and offer professional advice for projects on software QA matters, to customers, sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Provide software related advice and assistance on Quality matters to Project staff, Engineering and Operations through proactive participation, during all phases of the project
  • Perform analysis of Quality metrics and initiate improvements where required
  • Identify trends, issues, and opportunities associated with processes or products that may impact on the business
  • Contribute and enhance the developing knowledge base within Quality by engaging and building relationships with internal & external contacts

Proven Ability / Key Skills

Essential

  • Proven ability of working within a software quality environment in a civil/defence or similar industry
  • Knowledge of standards and methods applicable to the role such as ISO, AS9100, DO-178, DO-278A, AQAP, CMMI, civil and military standards and be able to apply this knowledge to projects and daily tasks
  • Detailed knowledge of current software engineering, quality and related working practices
  • Qualified as an auditor and have the ability to audit internally and externally to the company

Desirable

  • Knowledge of commercial and MoD contractual requirements and standards
  • Knowledge of tools used in software development such as DOORS, Teamcenter, Subversion, Jira
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles including, Waterfall and Agile
