Role: Site Foreman - Heavy Mechanical and Electromechanical Equipment Erection, Operation and Maintenance - Hinkley 'C' nuclear project

 

Location: Hinkley Point 'C' Power Station site nr. Bridgwater, Somerset

 

Salary: Up to £100000 + excellent benefits including travel and relocation assistance, sick pay, 8% client pension contribution and 25 days holiday

 

Start: January 2022 onwards

 

An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled and experienced Site Manager / Site Foreman / Project Engineer / Project Manager with a good understanding of the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of large Mechanical and Electromechanical equipment, as well as expereince in the management of on-site activities, to work for our prestigious client, a renowned international company specialising in the design and manufacture of high quality mechanical and electromechanical equipment for space, energy and industrial applications.

 

The client will be responsible for supplying polar cranes for use initially in support of the Hinkley Point 'C' Nuclear Power Station construction project, and during the the subsequent operational life of the station. The position will be based at the Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset, after an initial 6 week period of training and familiarisation with the equipment being supplied at the client's head office in Aigle, Switzerland. It is also hoped the role might be involved in future similar work related to the Sizewell 'C' nuclear project.

 

Whilst prior nuclear industry experience would be of use, experienced obtained in other 'heavy' industries related to large complex machines (e.g. oil and gas, petrochemical, railways, offshore, possibly large vehicle manufacturing) will be equally valued.

 

Likewise, previous construction site experience would be useful but is not essential to be considered.

 

 

Main Activities

 

  • Manage on-site activities including erection, commissioning, testing and maintenance of polar cranes designed and manufactured by the client  
  • Coordination of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safety, efficiency and quality.
  • Contact and report every day with the end client (EDF) to show progress and address technical topics in meetings
  • Make sure project management instructions are followed, compliance with budget and proceed with a regular internal reporting covering all site issues
  • Supervise subcontractors
  • Maintain regular contact with technical support team located at the head office to receive support and provide updates.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Significant experience in machinery industry and on-site activities.
  • Mechanics / Electromechanics degree (or other engineering degree with demonstrated related skills/experience), or possessing a suitable proven level of qualifications/training, skills and experience obtained in a relevant industry
  • Experienced in managing the assembly, installation, operation and maintenance of large mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read technical drawings (mechanical / electrical).
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fast-thinking and know how to adapt quickly to any situation.
  • Good attention to safety, detail and quality.
