Our Client requires an experienced highways site inspector/clerk of works for up to a 4 month period. The role is to supervise the construction of amendments to an existing highway in Newark. The site works include pavement reconstruction and surfacing, drainage, footways and kerbing, diversion of statutory undertaker's equipment, road markings, lighting and associated electrical works, landscaping and fencing.

The role will be full time, site based, Monday to Friday with some weekend/night work.

Duties are:
* Supervise and audit the construction of the works to ensure compliance with the Works Information and Contract requirements.
* Resolve technical issues as they arise on site.
* Review and authorise the Contractor's Inspection and Test Plans
Review proposed materials and products against the design and specification
* Audit the Contractor's quality records.
* Notify defects where they occur and liaise with the Contractor to ensure they are closed out.
* Liaise with the Contractor, and design manager to resolve technical and contractual issues.
* Respond to the Contractor's site queries, liaising with the design manager where necessary.
* Attend meetings with the Contractor and Client, where required.
* Monitor and report on site safety issues, conducting regular site safety inspections.
* Maintain detailed records of works progress, quality inspections and defects.
* Support the client's commercial team in assessing monthly payments and compensation events.
* Act as the client's representative on site when dealing with local stakeholders

* Proven experience in the supervision of construction of highway works in the UK.
* Detailed knowledge of the requirements of the Specification for Highway Works
