Shift Process Operator - based Lostock, Northwich
Starting package £27,396 to £30,434, rising to £36,896 p.a. with training (inclusive of shift allowance)
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Lostock Shift Operating Team who ideally has Process Operator experience, gained within a continuous chemical process or similar.
Our flexible shift pattern offers plenty of time off but there is also scope to earn overtime as we would expect you to cover for colleagues on rest days as and when the need arises.
Team working is really important as is the ability to learn quickly, work flexibly across plant areas and take a proactive approach to safety and problem solving.
Training & Development
Our comprehensive training programme which receives excellent feedback from those who go through it, sees our Operators learn a minimum of two operating roles. This training typically taking around 3 months to complete and is followed by a period of consolidation in the role.
Whilst not essential, HNC in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, or City & Guilds qualifications in Process Technology would be of benefit and could lead to an improved starting salary.
It would also be an advantage to hold GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English and Chemistry. However if the successful applicant does not have this, they would be expected to attain an in house Maths / Chemistry certification as part of the Process Operator Development Programme.
In the medium to long term individuals with the capability and drive to do so, may develop their operating skills to progress through the shift team to Relief Control Room Leader, Control Room Leader and potentially beyond.
As part of a 5 shift crew, our teams work 12 hour shifts as follows:
2 days followed by 2 nights and then 6 days off.
During the summer period the pattern moves to 4 on 4 off to allow for an 18 day break.
As part of your pattern you would attend 2 x 6 hour Shift Safety Training days per year which are mandatory and overtime is paid.
Additional time off
Our Shift Teams run a shift swap system and you can also book up to 4 additional shifts off per holiday year (Apr-Mar) if you arrange for a colleague to cover you on overtime.
If you feel you already have enough time off, you can take a financial holiday bonus of 1.37% of your salary instead, paid at the end of the holiday year in April.
Salary & Benefits
The basic starting salary is £21,917 plus a 25% shift allowance (£27,396 overall)
However depending on qualifications and experience, the starting salary could be up to £24,347 plus a 25% shift allowance (£30,434 overall)
Over a period of time, the successful applicant may improve their salary by completing training and validation in a minimum of 2 shift roles as well as a programme of on line training and validation, raising the salary in stages to £29,517 plus a 25% shift allowance (£36,896 overall)
