Sheet Metal Operative - Temporary
Reference: Vacancy 507 - 511
Contract Details: Temporary - 5 Week Contract (Paye or LTD)
Salary: Graded on experience:
Grade B - £16.25 p/h PAYE / £20.89 p/h LTD
Grade C - £15.43 p/h PAYE / £19.84 p/h LTD
Hours of Work: Days - 37 Hours
Key Tasks - Roles & Responsibilities
 Rework all panel types using techniques and equipment in an efficient manner
 Hand forming prototype panels from flat sheet metal and aluminium
 Welding, bolting, riveting using hand and power tools
 Trimming, filing, grinding, de-burring and metal finishing surfaces
 Working with quality engineers and supervisors to analysis and eliminate sources and
causes of rework
 Ensuring panel quality requirements and checks are carried out as required
 Ensuring all required paperwork / labels are correctly completed and filed as
 Ensuring housekeeping is to the highest standard
 Highlighting and supporting any continuous improvement activities / opportunities
 Working in a safe manner and highlighting any health and safety risks
 Working as part of a team
 Working unsupervised when necessary
 Adapting to new technologies and techniques
 Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the Company's quality
 Liaising with other departments, customers and suppliers if required
Candidate Technical & Educational Requirements
 Qualification in a related subject (Desirable)
 Completed Sheet Metal Apprenticeship (Desirable)
 FLT or Crane Licence (Desirable)
Candidate Competencies
 Sheet Metal experience within a manufacturing or automotive company
 Resistance Welding Experience
 Assembly Experience
 Ability to metal finish to paint standards
 Setting Experience
 MIG Welding (Desirable)
 Hammer Forming -(Desirable)
 Ability to work from drawing (Desirable)
 Experience on Laser Fixtures (Desirable)
 Excellent communication skills
 Good verbal and numerical skills
 Strong attention to detail
 Excellent problem solving skills
 Flexibility with hours to meet business needs
