SHE Manager - Qatar - Competitive Salary

The SHE Manager is responsible for the delivery of operational SHE support across the business who will lead a team of SHE professional/s and to provide support & guidance on specific projects as required, reporting to the Head of Safety, Compliance & Assurance, with functional reporting line to Head of SHE E&I.

This role is responsible for the provision of strategic, tactical and operational SHE support across the business.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Liaison and influencing senior stakeholders across the business to ensure that strategic SHE objectives are being delivered
  • Lead a team of professional SHE Advisors / Associates and where required co-ordinate a team of nominated leads, to ensure standards are being deployed in a consistent approach
  • Leading the implementation and deployment of the Air SHE Policy and supporting SHE Management System, development and deployment of SHE objectives and targets
  • Preparing and delivering appropriate reports to illustrate SHE performance to various stakeholders
  • Influencing and consultation with the Air Senior SHE Management team in reviewing relevance of strategic goals for deployment
  • Responsible for all SHE Assurance activities in country, providing visibility of audit, corrective action and improvement planning / status in accordance with stakeholder requirements
  • Provide assurance that the SHE Management System and Site Operations are compliant with the BAE Systems Operational Framework and ISO45001 and ISO14001 Certifications
  • This role requires full leadership responsibilities for a team of professional SHE persons across the business whose role it is to provide competent SHE advice and first-hand SHE support at operational level

Core Activity

Standards of Performance

  • Ensure Head of SHE E&I receives the Qatar SHE objectives status on the 20th of each month
  • Implementation of Air SHE Policy and supporting SHE Management System, development and deployment of SHE objectives and targets
  • Governance and provision of competent SHE advice
  • Collating and providing SHE performance reports (such as injuries, audits, regulatory issues)
  • Providing information so that adequate provisioning of resources can be made by the sites and locations within IBP
  • Providing SHE input to Capital Case reviews, reviewing work plans and method statements and support to investment projects specifically on supply of machinery, construction safety and contractor management, providing SHE support to factory acceptance tests and installed article test processes
  • Investigation and reporting of incidents in accordance with regulatory and/or customer requirements
  • Provision of an effective interface with regulators and representatives dealing with Public and Employers Liability issues on behalf of sites and locations, deploying risk assessment processes across site and locations, etc.

Functional Knowledge

  • SHEDY profile for SHE Manager
  • Project Management (foundational/basic level) for developing and implementing SHE related projects
  • Sound knowledge of BAE and SHE management skills and the safety legislation of the UK and country located in (if different to the UK)

Business Expertise

  • Whilst a management role, the jobholder also requires a broad and comprehensive technical understanding of safety, health & environmental management theories and practice
  • This role requires broad business awareness and proven ability, with particularly good understanding of processes associated with the design, development and maintenance of aircraft platforms. Proven ability of working with the customer, on-base is essential, as is knowledge of customer/contracting environment relating to SHE requirements

Qualifications/Functional Knowledge

The role holder is required to hold one or more of the following QCF/NQF Level 5 (or higher) SHE qualifications (for this post the role holder must hold a Safety qualification as a minimum):

  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
  • Level 5 NVQ in Occupational Safety and Health Practice
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management
  • IEMA Diploma in Sustainable Business Practice
  • Safety, Health and/or Environmental Honours Degree (Bachelor's or Higher)
  • Equivalent qualification in Safety, Health and/or Environmental subject.
