An award winning integrated engineering and environmental consultancy has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technician to be based in either their Leeds, Manchester or Birmingham office.

They are looking to appoint a Senior Technician on a permanent basis, who we will expect to be conversant with AutoCAD and experience in the design of Railway Structures, Earthworks and Drainage infrastructure to a level appropriate for the role. The right candidate should be capable of producing drawn details of their own design work in the form of AutoCAD drawings for regulatory approval and construction in connection with Highways and Drainage design. An aptitude to effectively delegate responsibility to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced staff is also sought.

About the team

The Rail team provides a comprehensive design and advisory service focused on meeting the engineering challenges involved in servicing the infrastructure requirements of renewal and enhancement projects. We work across the heavy rail and light rail and our clients range from local and national developers and contractors to public sector bodies. We aim to create a working environment that provides challenge, enjoyment and a real sense of satisfaction with a view to encouraging personal and professional development in all our staff.

About you

Candidates must be capable of leading a team in use of AutoCAD, 3D Civils, be conversant with BIM requirements and processes and understand Network rail CAD standards.

An understanding and experience of using Bentley Microstation and associated design tools in addition to AutoDesk tools would be advantageous. Experience of wider railway design draughting would also be advantageous covering Signalling, Permanent Way and Electrification systems as would experience of using ProjectWise and Eb.

Whilst academic qualifications appropriate to the roles are important, attributes such as problem solving, communication, personal organisation and team working will help candidates stand out. Above all we seek demonstrable enthusiasm, ambition and a willingness to learn.

Applicants should have attained four or more years practical design experience and should have qualified at HNC/D or equivalent academic level as a minimum.
