On behalf of a top defence company Morson are currently recruiting for Senior Structures / Stress Engineers on a initial 12 month contract at Warton. Further details as follows:

Job Description

This role exists to provide structural engineering input, analysis and support to military fast jet airframe design and development programmes.

The role is critical to enabling the release of design definitions and/or supporting the manufacture and/or the operation of military fast jet airframe structures, and cover a broad range of Structures engineering skills such as classical structural analysis methods, Finite Element Analysis Methods, airframe qualification, materials qualification support, especially Carbon Fibre Composites, systems installation stress analysis and airframe build/manufacturing support.

Experienced Structures Engineers are required within for a variety of roles. The role to be filled cover a broad range of Structures engineering skills covering classical structural analysis methods, Finite Element Analysis Methods, airframe qualification, materials qualification support, especially Carbon Fibre Composites, systems installation stress analysis and airframe build/manufacturing support.

The Key Responsibilities include:

* Plan, estimate and control structures engineering tasks for activities within span of control, performing tasks to cost and on time to meet customer requirements and business needs.

* Ensure the technical content of the work, including deliverables, is acceptable to the customer and utilises the most efficient engineering methods available.

* Ensure all work is compatible with the departmental quality policy and that departmental procedures are followed. Agree with line manager and deploy structures engineering methods, processes and data for activities within span of control

* Ensure effective interactions with customers, suppliers and others, to promote the best interests of the team, department and company.

* Provide efficiency and effectiveness suggestions for the development of structures engineering toolsets and processes within the Structures discipline

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following

KRA 1: TASK MANAGEMENT

Plan, estimate and control structures engineering tasks for activities within span of control, performing tasks to cost and on time to meet customer requirements and business needs. SoP: Personal work programme aligned with Level 3 plan, reviewed and updated as necessary on a monthly basis. Spend and achievement monitored - average achievement / spend ratio not < 100%. Resource requirements for workload declared to line manager in a timely manner.

KRA 2: TECHNICAL QUALITY

Ensure the technical content of the work, including deliverables, is acceptable to the customer and utilises the most efficient engineering methods available. SoP: No major queries on technical content. No significant rework due to internal failure. Satisfactory customer feedback on deliverables.

KRA3: DEPARTMENTAL PROCEDURES

Ensure all work is compatible with the departmental quality policy and that departmental procedures are followed. Agree with line manager and deploy structures engineering methods, processes and data for activities within span of control SoP: Task specification and completion sheets completed. Quality failures logged, reviewed and reported any resulting actions carried out. No Quality Management System audit failures.

KRA4: COMMUNICATIONS

Ensure effective interactions with customers, suppliers and others, to promote the best interests of the team, department and company. SoP: No adverse comments clear and effective reports and presentations - delivered on time.

KRA5: PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS

Provide efficiency and effectiveness suggestions for the development of structures engineering toolsets and processes within the Structures discipline SoP: Communication of any process improvements identified, to other team members and line manager, as appropriate.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
