We have an opportunity for a Senior / Design Piping Engineer based at Sellafield, Cumbria

Job Role
Principal Piping Designer/checker reporting to the Piping Lead Engineer and responsible for the design, checking and management of Piped Systems.
Main duties will include but not be limited to checking piping fabrication isometric and associated documents. Reporting to the local Mechanical Head of Discipline or Project Lead Engineer
Carry out design activities and calculations, including the production of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, schedules, other documents, manhour estimates for CAD deliverables, interpreting clients technical specifications and other related activities, to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities
Your responsibility will be to:
Carry out designs of a variety of Piping Design & Engineering solutions. This can range from optioneering studies for moving radiological equipment, detail engineering of piping and mechanical equipment, plant layout, specification of package plant equipment.
Work with and assist other Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineers together with other members of a multidiscipline design team.
Produce estimates and programmes for input to projects.
Liaise with clients and other design disciplines, attending internal and external meetings.
Produce briefs, specifications, and take a role in the review and checking of design drawings
Undertaking of survey work.
Write technical reports and produce detailed calculations.

Qualifications
Minimum HNC Mechanical Engineering
Working within a Joint Venture environment
Minimum of 15 years experience of working within a highly regulated industry.
Ideally, ten of those years must have been gained within the nuclear industry. Experience with THORP also required
Detailed knowledge of Piping Design and Plant Layout
Proven understanding of Pipe Specifications and ASME B31.3
Knowledge of principles of pipe stressing
Use of PDMS / Navisworks
Carry out other project related tasks as assigned by Lead Piping Engineer
Ensure that work complies with all necessary Client, Company, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
Recognise and address potential and actual cross-discipline issues and conflicts so that overall engineering input to a project is coherent
Competent working within Sellafield standards and procedures, and BS 8888.
Input to Designer Risk Assessments (DRAs) and Outline Installation Method Statements (OIMS).
Good verbal and communication skills.
Able to work effectively with colleagues and with a professional approach to external clients.
An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance
Being able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Available to travel short term in UK.
