We have an excellent opportunity for a SENIOR SAFETY CONSULTANT for our Client within the Nuclear Industry, based at Sellafield.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide technical leadership and delivery of technical projects in the Radiological area of the Safety, Security and Safeguards team to time, cost and quality and enhance own technical skills within the Radiological area and support development of team members skills and capability.
Lead activities in support of the development of the Companys national reputation in the Radiological area.
Provide expert knowledge of Radiological safety assessment including being up to date with developments in methodology and approach. National level subject matter expert.
Leading technical delivery of projects in the Radiological area to time, cost, quality, value and service requirements, including:
Supervision of other staff and consultants
Management of relationships with Laboratory Manager, Projects, PMA, Compliance,
other safety and security disciplines, Operations Control Manager and other
designated safety roles
Advice, training and independent inspection
Leading Radiological support to multi disciplinary teams addressing safety challenges.
Managing the relationships with internal and external stakeholders, e.g., Laboratory Manager, Compliance, PMS, site license company, regulator, INSA and customers.
Leading the identification and development of new opportunities for the team, including technical support to bids.
Use initiative to develop new capabilities through innovative approaches and providing insight. Technical lead on complex IRD projects and submissions.
Maintain technical awareness of both Company and external competitor capabilities within the broader Radiological safety area. Identify best practice to improve the team.
Developing team SQEP skills for Radiological, e.g., mentoring and supervision. Design and deliver specialist Radiological training.
Membership of relevant national industry groups to represent the Company.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree qualified or equivalent level of demonstrable technical capability.
SQEP 3 with demonstrable experience in Radiological safety.
Preferably Chartered Membership of a professional institution.
Excellent level of knowledge in the specialised field of Radiological safety assessment. Detailed knowledge of advanced assessment techniques
Proven ability to act independently, under own initiative, while supervising other members of the team
Strong communication skills, including multi site working.
Excellent team working skills, with ability to inspire the work of a team
Experienced in mentoring and developing technical skills.
Excellent networking skills, maintaining network across the Radiological field nationally.
