Principal & Senior Rail Civil Engineers required to work for Leading International Engineering & Project Management Consultancy based in their Glasgow office.

Supporting a range of high-profile major projects, interacting with and advising other Engineers, Managers, Clients and reporting on work progress, bids and strategic delivery co-ordination across other UK offices and overseas. Internationally. The projects undertaken include railway civil engineering technical and management support.

Essential Skills and Knowledge Required:
Experience in the UK (and to a lesser degree overseas experience) in the rail industry is essential. Will have a significant understanding of the UK rail network and of the inter-relationship between operational needs and the resulting infrastructure.
Excellent underpinning knowledge of railway, civil engineering, geotechnical and structural engineering design principles, standards, components, and fabrication methods is essential. Substantial hands-on experience of the production or checking of feasibility, outline and detailed railway designs and calculations (alignment, track, civil engineering structures, drainage, formation, operations, etc) will also be necessary.
Experience in the use of design software packages (MicroStation, InRail, TerraModelling, ClearRoute, etc) will be necessary. Experience of other software tools (Project Programming, Word Processor, Spreadsheets, etc.) will also be necessary.
Understanding of the key interactions between railway assets and systems and of railway operating practices. Good experience of railway and civil engineering construction methods and installation.
Able to work well as part of a team within railway and civil engineering projects and supportive to the other Railway group disciplines and being flexible to project and Client needs. As such, will be accustomed to multitask to respond to Client requests and able to cope with interruptions as projects demand.
