Overview of Role & Project:
The Quality Engineer shall be responsible for supporting the Quality Manager in all matters relating to quality both on all work packages of the HS2 Enabling Works North contract and in the wider corporate domain of both JV partners. They will ensure that management systems remain compliant with management standards, through assisting in the delivery of the Audit Programme, monitoring and reviewing activities of the delivery team. They will monitor and report on the effectiveness of the quality management system and make recommendation for improvement as appropriate.
HS2 enabling works - Quality Assurance of Internal and Supplier Quality Management Systems. Audit and inspection of Internal and Supplier Systems and Site Quality Controls. Review for approval by the Quality Lead the Supply Chain Quality Deliverables
Key responsibilities and duties:
* Assisting in reviewing and maintaining contractor and supplier quality arrangements, including monitoring of their quality plans, quality programmes and project documents
* Assist the Quality Manager in the production of project reports both to the Client and to the JV parent companies
* Liaise with Project Managers and sub-contractors to produce work package quality plans
* Carry out audits in accordance with the audit programme on the project departments, sections and subcontractors ensuring that audit findings of corrective and preventive action can be verified and subsequently closed out
* Ensuring that items of non-conformity are identified, recorded and closed out using approved methods in accordance with the project requirements
* Interface with document control, requirements manager and engineering & assurance ensuring documents are allocated to the right work packages collated to be handed over
* Carry out planned / targeted surveillance activities of works and processes as directed by the Quality Manager
* Identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities within the Quality Management System

The Project involves enabling the Main Works to be constructed by de-risking the HS2 project of all potential unknowns (potential claims by the Main Works Contractors) by Clearance and demolition of land and property, Minor Civils works for access crossings and compounds, diversion of highways , utilities and mitigating environmental risks such as Archaeology, Ecology , and community.
