Project Engineer 1-2 year contract position based in Middlewich

Job purpose statement:

Tata Chemicals Europe is embarking on a major £70m investment programme to build a number of key strategic new plants and assets over the next 3 years. To deliver these strategic investments a Projects Group has been set up comprising of senior and experienced experts. The Projects Group is now looking to recruit a number of experienced projects professionals to help deliver these exciting projects.

The Project Engineer role is to support the Project Manager in delivery of these major projects, and to ensure that all aspects of the projects are delivered safely - on time, in budget and to the right quality.

Principal accountabilities

Support the Project Manager in driving the projects through all stages, from scope development & design, estimating, procurement and construction, through to commissioning and site hand over.
Support the Project Manager and deputise for them as required in order to drive progress through action tracking, programme monitoring and cost control.
Work with other members of the project teams including the procurement function to ensure all external suppliers meet the requirements of the projects.
Assist the Project Manager in ensuring the projects run in compliance with internal & external safety, environmental, permit and planning processes and procedures, as well as with any contract requirements.
Work with the project SHE and site construction managers and supervisors to ensure that the projects move smoothly from design stage to implementation phase.
Proactively look for areas that could delay project delivery and use creative problem solving techniques to overcome any obstacles.
Engage with site personnel to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are kept informed and are fully engaged with the projects.
Track task progress at detailed level and put corrective actions in place to recover any potential time delays.
Assist the Project Manager in tracking costs at detail level, including supplier performance, to ensure best value for money and timely delivery.


Required
Degree or HNC in engineering with minimum 5 year project experience
Desirable
Mechanical or chemical engineering background
