To support the Engineering Authority in planning, coordinating and effective delivery of Product Safety scope within the Ship Auxiliary Systems team
To undertake a range of Product Safety activities in line with all relevant project and corporate processes and any specific customer requirements
To facilitate the implementation of relevant Product Safety processes and production of deliverables.
Produce Product Safety Justification Papers and/or System Design Safety Assessments.
Organise and facilitate HAZIDs and review meetings and contribute to other HAZIDs when required.
Manage the hazards, risks and associated mitigations and contribute to the development of the hazard log and the maturity of information contained within.
Work with lead Engineers in ensuring all Auxiliary Systems hazards are thoroughly mitigated and develop the associated ALARP statements.
Review the responses back from OEM supplied deliverables to ensure deliverable material is compliant with corporate and customer requirements.
Assisting with relevant Certification.
Practiced in applying formal hazard / safety assessment techniques and methods such as:-
HAZID (Hazard Identification)
HAZOPS (Hazard and Operability studies)
FHA (Functional Hazard Analysis)
SWIFT (Structured What-If Technique)
FTA/ETA (Fault/Event Tree Analysis)
FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) etc.
Experienced in risk management, this will include hazard identification, analysis, risk assessment and risk mitigation.
Able to write Product Safety Justification Papers and Safety Case Reports.
Appreciation of functional / software hazard requirements.
Understands fluid system design and can effectively identify and analyse the hazards associated.
Experience and knowledge of Life Cycle Management (LCM), its requirements and application.
Knowledge of safety management processes and techniques.
Experience of working in more than one phase of the Life Cycle Management (LCM) framework, with sufficient experience of the total LCM to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues.
Awareness of customer (Ship/ System Safety) standards such as:-
Def. Stan 056;
Familiar with the Product Safety Management Framework.
